THE SHOW Chicago, 1886. The Great Fire has long since cooled. The World's Fair looms large on the horizon. And one fiendishly ambitious young physician and entrepreneur — a man destined to become known as "America's first serial killer" — has come to town, to build a life and to make a killing, even if that comes at the cost of the lives and livelihoods of others. How does a seemingly sympathetic young medical student, a doting friend and family man, become an unabashed fraud, polygamist, and murderer? Join us for an evening of investigation on a wild ride which early responders have already deemed as "evocative", "haunting and beautiful", and "hard to put down", as we probe the criminal mind . . . and dare to discover THE DEVIL INSIDE. DR.
H. H. HOLMES (1861-1896)
was born Herman Webster Mudgett in Gilmanton, NH. Holmes is most notoriously
remembered for his supposed "murder castle": a three-story
office building built to his own specifications and with many hidden
secrets, which housed businesses, apartments, and several dubious (as
well as legitimate) business.
One floor of his signature structure was renovated into a tourist hotel
around the time of the Chicago World's Fair of 1893 . . . but the real criminal intents of this decision have since been re-examined. |
